Wizards agree to one-year contract with Lopez

Former Bucks center Robin Lopez questions a call against the Wizards.

The Washington Wizards have agreed to a deal with free agent center Robin Lopez, per Keith Smith of Yahoo Sports.

Lopez, 32, spent last season with the Milwaukee Bucks, where he averaged 5.4 points in 62 games. He opted out of a $5 million deal earlier this week.

Per Smith, the deal is for one year and just slightly less than the full midlevel exception of $9.285 million.

The 7-foot journeyman has also spent time with the Phoenix Suns, New Orleans Pelicans, Portland Trail Blazers, New York Knicks and Chicago Bulls.

Lopez will add a veteran presence behind Thomas Bryant for a Wizards team that looks to take the next step with star shooting guard Bradley Beal and the return of point guard John Wall.
