Rockets pick up option on veteran guard Nwaba

Former Nets guard David Nwaba drives to the basket vs. the Knicks.

The Houston Rockets will exercise the $1.8 million contract option on guard/forward David Nwaba, per Shams Charania of The Athletic.

Nwaba, 27, suffered a season-ending Achilles tear in December while with the Brooklyn Nets. He was waived a month later, then signed with the Rockets in June.

He has also spent time with the Los Angeles Lakers, Chicago Bulls and Cleveland Cavaliers.

Nwaba averaged 5.2 points and shot a career-high 43 percent on 3-pointers in 20 appearances with the Nets last season.
