Campazzo to leave Real Madrid, linked to Mavs and Spurs

Real Madrid point guard Facundo Campazzo drives to the basket during an overseas game.

Argentinian point guard Facundo Campazzo is expected to leave Spanish club Real Madrid later this month to sign with an NBA team, according to Marca Basket.

NBA free agency begins Nov. 20, with teams allowed to start signing players two days later, the league announced.

Campazzo has been linked to the Dallas Mavericks, San Antonio Spurs and Minnesota Timberwolves. The Mavericks are especially interested, per Carlos Sanchez Blas of Gigantes.

Campazzo, 29, is 5-foot-11 and has drawn interest from the NBA his entire career. He reportedly wants to join the NBA for the 2020-21 season, scheduled to tip off Dec. 22. (Training camp begins Dec. 1.)

As relayed by Stefan Djordjevic of Eurohoops, Real Madrid would be owed $6 million if Campazzo were to have his contract bought out to join the NBA.
