The Sacramento Kings are not matching the Atlanta Hawks’ contract offer to restricted free agent shooting guard Bogdan Bogdanovic, per Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

The decision will allow Bogdanovic to leave for the Hawks and their offer of four-years and $72 million.

It’s been a busy and productive offseason for the Hawks. Along with signing Bogdanovic, general manager Travis Schlenk has added veterans such as forward Danilo Gallinari and guards Rajon Rondo and Kris Dunn to their young nucleus of Trae Young, John Collins, Cam Reddish and De’Andre Hunter.

Meanwhile, the Kings decided against keeping Bogdanovic in an effort to maintain financial flexibility. Point guard De’Aaron Fox and shooting guard Buddy Hield are two of their biggest reasons for hope.

“And once Tyrese Haliburton dropped to the Kings at No. 12 in Wednesday’s NBA draft, Sacramento suddenly had a deeper, more talented backcourt than it originally anticipated heading into free agency — another factor in Tuesday night’s decision,” Wojnarowski reported.

Bogdanovic, 28, is 6-foot-6 and spent all three of his NBA seasons with the Kings. He averaged a career-high 15.1 points last season, as well as 3.4 rebounds and 3.4 assists.
