Lakers work out Arizona guard Mannion ahead of draft

Former Arizona guard Nico Mannion brings up the ball in a game against Oregon.

The Los Angeles Lakers worked out draft prospect Nico Mannion on Tuesday in Arizona, according to Brad Turner of the LA Times.

Mannion is a 6-foot-3 guard out of Arizona and viewed as a late-first or early-second round pick. The Lakers are selecting 28th overall in Wednesday’s draft.

Per Turner, Lakers GM Rob Pelinka was among those who attended the workout.

Mannion averaged 14.0 points and 5.3 rebounds as a freshman with the Wildcats. He is the son of Pace Mannion, a small forward who played for six NBA teams from 1983-89.
