NBA reportedly eyeing Dec. 1 for start of training camps

The Bulls listen to instructions during their 2019 training camp.

With the NBA supposedly focused on a mid-December tipoff to the 2020-21 season, training camps could be just around the corner.

Or more specifically, Dec. 1, according to Marc Stein of the New York Times.

This would be contingent on the players agreeing to the league’s plan to begin next season on Dec. 22, Stein added. And that’s something the league is apparently confident will happen.

“I don’t really think the players have much of a leveraging point here,” ESPN’s Brian Windhorst said on the Hoop Collective podcast. “They’re probably going to have to agree to this.

“In talking to people on the league side this past week, they didn’t act like getting the players to agree was going to be that big of a stumbling block. I’m sure some people are going to be upset, but I’m not sure what they can do about it.”

The eight teams that didn’t take part in the season’s return in Orlando have not played since the second week of March.
