Warriors finalizing trade with Thunder for Oubre Jr.

Ex-Suns small forward Kelly Oubre Jr. drives to the basket vs. the Grizzlies.

The Golden State Warriors are nearing a trade for Oklahoma City Thunder small forward Kelly Oubre Jr., per Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

Oubre was traded to the Thunder on Sunday as part of the Chris Paul deal with the Phoenix Suns.

“The Warriors will absorb Oubre Jr. and his $14.4M salary into their $17.2M trade exception once deal is done,” Wojnarowski reported.

Warriors All-Star guard Klay Thompson will miss his second straight season after an MRI revealed he suffered a torn Achilles on Wednesday, per Wojnarowski. Thompson suffered the injury while working out ahead of the 2020-21 season.

Oubre theoretically would help the Warriors overcome the loss of Thompson, teaming with the likes of Steph Curry, Draymond Green, Andrew Wiggins and No. 2 overall draft pick James Wiseman.
