Oladipo tells Pacers he’s fully committed for upcoming season

Pacers guard Victor Oladipo drives to the basket vs. the Bucks.

Indiana Pacers guard Victor Oladipo told the Indiana Pacers he’s fully committed for the upcoming season and is ready to soldier on, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.

Oladipo’s status was in doubt following an Indianapolis Star report in which he asked teams during games, “Can I come play with y’all?” Per the report, Oladipo posed that question during game against the New York Knicks, Miami Heat and Toronto Raptors.

Whether Oladipo said that or not was made a mute point (for now).

“I know there have been people saying that I have asked players to trade for me,” he told Charania. “That’s just not true, period. I love my teammates, I cherish the state of Indiana and I’m focused on leading this franchise to a title.”

The Pacers recently hired a new coach in Nate Bjorkgren, a former assistant with the Raptors. Oladipo is eligible for free agency at the end of the 2020-21 season.
