A general view of the Cavaliers court at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse.

Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert has brought in an artist as a minority partner and to serve as the team’s creative director.

Daniel Arsham, an Ohio native, was hired last week in what was described as “an unprecedented partnership ” between an NBA team and a visual artist. He told Artnet News his goal is to make “to make the Cavs brand as international as the Yankees.”

Along with the Cavs, Arsham will work the G-League’s Canton Charge and Cavs Legion e-sports team.

The Cavs return to the court for the first time in almost nine months when training camp opens Tuesday. The preseason tips off Dec. 12 vs. the Indiana Pacers at RocketMortgage FieldHouse, with the regular-season slated to begin Dec. 22.
