LiAngelo Ball agrees to camp contract with Pistons

Free agent shooting guard LiAngelo Ball is getting an opportunity with the Pistons.

Free agent guard/forward LiAngelo Ball has agreed to a one-year, non-guaranteed contract with the Detroit Pistons, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.

Ball will be receiving an Exhibit 10 deal, which guarantees a player $50,000 if he can remain with the parent club’s G-League affiliate for at least 60 days.

Ball is 6-foot-5 and the younger brother of New Orleans Pelicans point guard Lonzo Ball and the older brother of Charlotte Hornets rookie point guard LaMelo Ball, the No. 3 overall pick.

LiAngelo, 22, went undrafted in 2018 after a brief time at UCLA. LaMelo Ball worked out in Detroit with Jermaine Jackson, the former coach at SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio, where LaMelo once played.

So the Ball family has some ties to the organization.

LiAngelo will join a crowded Pistons camp contingent of swingmen that already includes the likes of Delon Wright, Wayne Ellington, Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk, Rodney McGruder, Josh Jackson and rookie Saddiq Bey.
