Wizards sign former Big Ten Player of Year Winston

Former Michigan State point guard Cassius Winston brings up the ball vs. Ohio State.

The Washington Wizards have agreed to a two-way contract with former Michigan State point guard Cassius Winston, the team announced.

Winston was selected with the No. 53 overall pick after a trade that sent second-year shooting guard Admiral Schofield to the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Winston is 6-foot-1 and averaged 18.6 points and 5.9 assists last season as a senior. He was named Big Ten Player of the Year as a junior, and received All-Big Ten honors again last season.

The Wizards also announced the signings of Yoeli Childs, Caleb Homesley and Marlon Taylor to Exhibit 10 contracts.

Training camp is scheduled to begin Tuesday.
