Warriors’ Thompson to miss season with Achilles injury

Warriors shooting guard Klay Thompson drives to the basket vs. the Mavericks.

Golden State Warriors guard Klay Thompson‘s season is over before it began.

Per Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, an MRI on Thursday revealed that Thompson suffered a season-ending tear of his right Achilles tendon.

Thompson’s injury came during a workout in Southern California on Wednesday. This follows a major ACL injury, that took place during the 2019 NBA Finals. As Woj noted, Thompson’s ACL injury was on his left knee. The Achilles injury is on his right.

The Warriors were also without point guard Steph Curry for much of last season, finishing with the NBA’s worst record. They selected Memphis center James Wiseman with the No. 2 overall pick in Wednesday’s draft.
