The Charlotte Hornets have signed No. 3 overall pick LaMelo Bell, general manager Mitch Kupchak announced.
Ball is 6-foot-7 and spent last season playing professionally in Australia.
Per the rookie scale, he is in line to make about $7.8 million in his rookie season. The contract is for four years and will pay Ball just less than $36 million.
He will join a backcourt that includes point guard Terry Rozier, and shooting guards Devonte’ Graham and Malik Monk.
In other Hornets news:
- Second-round pick Vernon Carey Jr. was also signed on Monday. Carey is 6-10 and was selected as a freshman out of Duke with the No. 32 overall pick.
- Along with Ball and Carey, the Hornets signed second-round pick Grant Riler (Charleston, 56th overall) and undrafted free agent Nate Darling (Delaware). Both are guards who were given the Hornets’ two tw0-way contracts.
- Second-round pick Nick Richards was also signed. The 6-11 center from Kentucky was selected by the New Orleans Pelicans with the 42nd overall pick, then traded to the Hornets on draft night. The Hornets sent back a 2024 second-rounder in return.
